BUCKEYE, AZ — One person is in custody after a driver nearly struck a DPS patrol car.

Authorities say on Friday morning, troopers were set up on the shoulder of westbound Interstate 10 near Indian School Road and Verrado Way to pass traffic. The troopers were there, not far from a deadly crash on I-10 and Watson Road.

Authorities say a driver went through the shoulder nearly hitting the trooper vehicle and continued to drive away.

The troopers jumped into their vehicle and attempted to get the driver to pull over. We're told the driver ignored commands and spikes had to be used to get it to stop.

Three people came out of the vehicle, including the woman driver who had a knife, according to DPS. A tazer was used to shock her and she was taken into custody.

The other two occupants were children and they were released to family.

The name of the woman taken into custody hasn't been named and the exact charges are pending.
