EL MIRAGE — A bicyclist is dead after being struck by a Valley Metro bus on eastbound US-60 at the intersection of Greenway Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).
According to DPS, the bicyclist, identified only as a 34-year-old man from Tucson, was crossing an intersection around 6:30 a.m. and "failed to yield to the right-of-way."
A Valley Metro bus, which had the right-of-way according to DPS, struck the bicyclist as he crossed the intersection.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, DPS says.
The east and westbound right turn lanes on Greenway are open.
Additionally, one lane on the southbound side of US-60 and two northbound lanes are open, DPS said.
