TOLLESON, AZ — Firefighters extinguished a large fire that broke out at an abandoned West Valley building Thursday evening.
After 5 p.m., a large plume of smoke was seen coming from the area of 91st Avenue and Washington Street in the Tolleson area.
According to Tolleson Fire Department officials, the building was an abandoned structure previously occupied by a mini market.
A precautionary power shut-off in the area displaced eight people in nearby homes during the firefight.
The building is a complete loss, officials say.
