GLENDALE, AZ — A Valley church is stepping up to serve their community by handing out an item that is in demand all over the country right now: toilet paper.

Senior Pastor Gene Herndon with Stonepoint Community Church said this was time for churches to step up, and become a resource in their community.

"It’s not my personality to shrink back from challenges. We just decided that its time to step up and be the church, be a resource for our community," said Herndon.

The church has handed out 2,000 rolls of toilet paper so far.

Herndon said last week they handed out four rolls per car and Glendale police had to help direct traffic as so many people showed up.

"We've seen people from all walks of life come for help. They're rolling up in their BMW's, they're struggling to walk up to us, we've seen all races, all types of people, some even from all the way in Chandler," said Herndon.

You don't have to be a member of the church to get help, but the church does ask you to sign up through their social media page, so they can reserve some rolls for you.

To request toilet paper, you can send the church a message through their Facebook page.

The church is located at 4445 W Olive Ave, Ste 151,Glendale, Arizona 85302. They will start streaming their services at 11:15 AM on Sunday right after the giveaway event.
