The City of Glendale has a new mascot, and chances are you're going to want to meet the little guy.
Ranger is a six-month-old Chocolate Lab, and he's the new 'ambassador of kindness' for the city's Parks and Recreation Department.
Right now, he's finishing up his obedience training, and will then be certified as a therapy dog.
Besides making his way through city buildings, he'll be used in crisis situations in the city.
"It's just making people feel good," said Chris Kurtzhals, who is Rider's handler. "Coming in, if you're having a bad day, you can just kind of see how the atmosphere changes when we walk in with Ranger."
Ranger is being paid for by donations, so city funds aren't being used in his training or care.
