GLENDALE — A 17-year-old girl is dead following a crash on SR 101 near 51st Avenue early Friday morning.
According to DPS officials, the 17-year-old was driving a jeep when she collided with a Lexus driven by an 18-year-old man, around 12:30 a.m. Friday morning.
The jeep rolled over, according to officials, and was significantly damaged in the crash.
Officials say the girl had to be extracted from the Jeep due to the severity of the vehicle’s damage.
She was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
DPS officials did not say whether impairment was a factor in the crash.
The driver of the Lexus, whose name has not been released by DPS, was uninjured.
The name of the 17-year-old has not been released by DPS because she is a minor.
Officials said the Loop 101 reopened around 4:30 a.m. Friday.
