GLENDALE, AZ — The Arizona Department of Public Safety says it was involved in an "active law enforcement situation" in Glendale Thursday night.

At around 5:30 p.m., DPS was tipped off about a suspected gang weapons transaction. When troopers tried to pull over the suspected vehicle, the suspect rammed their vehicle into the patrol car.

DPS says the suspect then pointed a gun at a trooper who then shot the suspect. The suspect was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Troopers were searching for two additional suspects who were last seen in the area on 91st and Maryland avenues.

Video from the scene shows multiple agencies closing off the neighborhood near 91st Avenue and Montebello, searching the area along with police K-9 assistance.

DPS is asking people who see anything suspicious in the area to call 911.
