Chief Debora Black is leaving the Glendale Police Department next month.
The city announced Thursday that Black has accepted the same position with the Prescott Police Department. Her last day will be July 15.
Black joined the Glendale force in 2006 as an assistant chief and was named police chief in 2013.
"Leading the department has truly been an honor for me and a highlight in my 36 year career in law enforcement," Chief Black said in a news release. "I am thankful for the privilege I have had to serve with the men and women of the Glendale Police Department on behalf of this community."
City Manager Kevin Phelps said Assistant Chief Rick St. John has been appointed interim police chief and will take over when Black departs.
