A woman is asking for the public’s help recovering a motorized scooter that was taken from outside a Glendale home.

Last week, Donna Morgan, 71, woke up and discover her scooter was taken around 5:30 a.m. while it was parked outside her home near 43rd and Glendale avenues.

Morgan says the chair was parked outside her home in preparation for her summer trip back to Michigan. She explained that it was hidden between two cars, making it nearly impossible for it to be seen from the sidewalk.

"It's like stealing a wheelchair or a scooter, you just don't do things to people like that," said Morgan. "But, I guess some people don't care. As long as they can make a dollar they don't care."

She had recently undergone knee replacement surgery and relies heavily on the scooter to get around; she told ABC15 News. In fact, she says she was recovering in the hospital when the mobility scooter was taken.

"To have someone pick it up and take it away it's scary... you just wouldn't take something from a handicapped person," Morgan added.

Unfortunately, insurance won’t cover the cost to get it replaced.

If anyone has information regarding the scooter’s whereabouts or the suspect who stole it, please call the Glendale Police Department.
