GLENDALE, AZ — A Valley man is heartbroken and in tears, after his husband was shot and killed in Glendale Monday morning.
Kevin Willer was at the optometrist when he got the call that his husband, Scott Isaacson, had been shot while at work at Integrity Staffing Solutions in Glendale.
"I thought someone was playing a joke," thought Willer before police arrived at his door with the news. "I just broke at that moment. I just broke. I can't even explain."
The last interaction Willer had with his husband was Monday morning as Isaacson was leaving for work.
"He kissed me on the cheek, and we wished each other a good day," said Willer. "I haven't really stopped crying since Monday."
Willer and Isaacson had been married for just over 14 years, and have an adopted son, 13-year-old Dalton. The family moved from Nevada to Phoenix for Willer's work. Isaacson has two other children of his own, both in their 30s.
Isaacson is remembered as light-hearted with the ability to ease tension with a joke or a smile.
"He just had the goofiest demeanor and could just diffuse any situation," said Willer. "The thought of him, after 15 years, not being there to calm me down when he was upset or help me get through whatever we had going on, just unfathomable."
Willer has created a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs.
