Police arrested a man accused of burglary and arson in Glendale over the weekend.
According to court documents, officers observed forced entry into Gaston Jewelers near 35th Avenue and Bell Road just after 3 a.m. on Saturday.
Shortly after, a man was seen leaving a dumpster fire at a Burger King across the street.
The man, identified as Victor Hugo Juarez, told police that he set the fire to alert them of the burglary.
Officers found $1,600 worth of jewelry in his pocket during a search. Surveillance video from the jewelry store showed a man that resembled Juarez with another man, both wearing face masks.
The second suspect is still outstanding.
Juarez was charged with burglary, criminal damage and arson.
