GLENDALE, AZ — One person has been taken to a hospital after a road-rage incident led to a shooting in Glendale.
Just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the area of 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road for reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they located a man in his 30s with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
During the initial investigation, police believe the victim got into a road-rage incident with the driver of a white four-door sedan.
The victim, who was on a motorcycle, stopped in front of the driver of the sedan and the two got into an argument.
Investigators believe the argument turned physical and during the fight, the driver of the car pulled out a gun and shot the motorcyclist.
The driver of the car then drove away. The driver is described as being in his late teens to early 20s.
He was last seen traveling westbound on Bethany Home Road.
The owner of Elite Wheelz & Tires says the man ran through their parking lot screaming.
"Yeah, he said that they shot him and if we could call the cops,” said the owner.
Cell phone video shows the man holding a shirt to his stomach, which was covered in blood. He was alert and spoke with the owner.
"He was just talking about his family. He was worried about his son and his wife and he was telling me to call them,” said the owner.
Sgt. Randy Stewart with Glendale Police Department says, if you find yourself in a road-rage incident, "try to get out of the roadway, get away from the person whether that may be making a right turn, making a U-turn, but keep your windows up and do not engage, and then call 911 especially if it persists."
Anyone who saw the incident or has information is asked to call the Glendale Police Department at 623-930-2989.
