A Glendale 6-year-old boy was left home alone twice in the same day.

Glendale police report that on Friday night, they arrested 26-year-old Whitney Clarissa McNeal at her home near 67th and Northern avenues.

Earlier that day her 6-year-old son was found in the apartment complex crying because he was left alone. Workers at the apartment complex contacted McNeal, who returned from work to get her son.

However, she allegedly left him home alone again as she returned to work. The boy was found in the complex by a witness.

This time the child was turned over to the Department of Child Safety.

Upon her arrest, McNeil allegedly admitted to leaving the boy home alone, saying "this isn't the first time she had left him alone in the apartment."

McNeil will appear in court again on November 15 for two counts of child abuse.

If you suspect a child is being abused, the Arizona Department of Child Services has resources available to report the issue to a social worker. You can call the Arizona Child Abuse Hotline at 1-888-SOS-CHILD (1-888-767-2445), and will be asked for information about the child, as well as the nature of your concerns. You can also get more information from DCS about reporting abuse or neglect online.
