Glendale police say a 16-year-old boy was arrested after reportedly carjacking someone at gunpoint, taking off and later crashing near a bank.
The incident began around 2:20 a.m. Thursday in the area of 59th Avenue and Bearsley. The suspect, reportedly armed with a rifle, took a victim's black BMW from a Circle K parking lot. before taking off, headed westbound on the Loop 101.
The vehicle was found crashed into a tree at a bank near 99th Avenue and Bell Road, but the suspect fled on foot.
Police, with the help of K-9 officers, searched the area and found the suspect, a 16-year-old boy, and arrested him.
No other information has been released, however police say the victim of the carjacking was not injured.
