A Peoria man is dead after crashing his motorcycle into a pick-up truck early Sunday morning.

Around 12:30 a.m. police received reports of a crash near 73rd Avenue and Bell Road involving two vehicles.

During the investigation, it was discovered that a motorcyclist, later identified as 30-year-old Jason Cooper, was riding westbound on Bell Road when he rear-ended a pick-up truck.

Cooper was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision but died shortly after at the hospital, officials said.

According to authorities, Cooper's speed may have played a factor in the crash, however, the investigation is ongoing at this time. Impairment does not appear to have played a role.
