A Valley mom is desperate to find the person who ran over her pregnant daughter and left her to die.

Lori Gates, 24, was run over and killed in the early morning hours of April 24 near the intersection of 55th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Glendale.

She was four months pregnant at the time and leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter.

Glendale police say they’re staying on top of a strong lead in the case but have not made any arrests.

“I don’t know how to live without my daughter,” explains Vicki Jones, Lori’s mom. “She didn’t deserve this. She didn’t deserve this; she would have lived if they called 911.”

A few hours after Lori was hit, Wendell Weedon, a Lyft driver, spotted her on the side of the road, clinging to life.

“She was gasping for air,” he explains. “I’m not the type of person who could leave somebody and let them die.”

But that’s what police believe someone did. Perhaps the most excruciating pain is what Lori’s three-year-old daughter is feeling.

A little girl, left with only memories of her mom, thanks to someone’s senseless act.

“She keeps saying, ‘Can we go to the hospital and wake mommy up?’ explains Vicki. “I can’t because she’s not there anymore.”

There will also be two car washes at 77th Avenue and Indian School Road Saturday and Sunday starting at 9 a.m.
