A man armed with a knife received a fist to the face last Wednesday after terrorizing a woman and several children in a Phoenix neighborhood, according to court documents.

Police said a woman caught Michael Rodriguez Guerrero, 20, scratching her car with a knife near 45th and Glendale avenues. The woman said that when she confronted Guerrero, he threatened to stab her.

Documents said the woman went into her home and told a man inside what happened. When the man went outside, Guerrero chased him with the knife and threatened to stab him until Guerrero fell to the ground, allowing for the victim to escape.

Police said Guerrero then stood up and ran into the street toward a group children, while swinging the knife around.

A short time later, he punched the windshield of a man’s Camaro, documents said. When Guerrero pulled his knife on the driver, he was met with a punch to the face. Guerrero dropped his knife and was held down by the man until police arrived.

Guerrero is facing charges of criminal damage and assault with a deadly weapon.
