GLENDALE, AZ — Three people were injured in a second-alarm fire at a shopping center near 67th Avenue and Camelback Road Thursday evening.
The fire began sometime before 6:30 p.m. and destroyed "multiple occupancies" in the shopping center. Initial reports said that an explosion happened in one of the buildings causing shattered glass to injure three people. However, officials have since reported no evidence of an explosion source.
A total of three people were treated on scene for injuries, and one of them, a woman, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Some employees at the shopping center said that they recently had work done on the roof, including the electrical system. Officials suspect that an electrical issue may have caused the fire.
Firefighters say power lines were knocked down in the area during the fire.
