GLENDALE, AZ — Glendale police say a 2-year-old girl who was found in a backyard pool Wednesday has died.
Investigators learned that the victim, her 5-year-old brother, and parents were at home near 55th and Northern avenues when the incident occurred.
Police say the mother and both children were in the backyard while the father was working on home renovations.
The mother went inside, leaving the children with the father outside. When he went to look for the children, he realized the 2-year-old was in the pool.
Police say there was no pool fence and no child safety locks on the doors.
Officers say when they arrived, the father was performing CPR on the little girl before emergency crews took her to the hospital.
She later died.
The incident is still under investigation.
