The helmet, shoes, bike and speed make Ellie Carey one of the best BMX bike racers in the world -- and she's only six years old.
"When it's a race, I want to win the race or just try again," said Ellie.
She's won a few races. She even holds a first place world title for her age group.
On a hot Monday afternoon, Ellie is taking a few practice laps at the Goodyear BMX Raceway. Ellie started riding a Strider bike when she was two years old.
"She loved that little Strider," said LeNesha Carey, Ellie's mother. "Every day she would ask for a faster bike with pedals."
Faster is key here because Ellie loves to go fast. She has hit speeds of 22 miles per hour.
She tried the typical ballet route and it just wasn't her thing.
"She wanted to try dance," said LeNesha. "She'd have ballet class at the same time as a BMX clinic and she would choose to do BMX clinics."
"In ballet, you don't really get anything but in BMX you get like a trophy," said Ellie.
LeNesha says so far in 2017, Ellie has picked up 25 national wins for the BMX season.
