A Goodyear high school teacher was sentenced to probation Monday morning for having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
A judge sentenced 31-year-old Jared Blackstone, who taught at Millennium High School, to 10 years supervised probation for two counts of child abuse.
He pleaded guilty to those counts on Nov. 13.
On May 7, the Agua Fria Union High School District said Blackstone was immediately removed from school when they received the information.
Goodyear police then served a search warrant on Blackstone's home, and he was later arrested.
The 17-year-old student told detectives, according to court documents, that she and her teacher kissed four times and met three times outside of school.
Twice they allegedly met at a popular coffee bar in downtown Phoenix, and he gave the student a tour of his home, according to paperwork.
