Police are investigating after a student at Estrella Foothills High School was found with a gun and multiple knives on school grounds.
A Facebook post from the Buckeye Union High School District stated that the school's administration received information through an anonymous alert system on Friday reporting that a student had a weapon on the campus.
Goodyear police confirmed that an alert was received around 8:25 a.m. regarding a male student with a handgun. A school resource officer searched the teen's backpack, and found a gun and full magazine, as well as three knives.
The student was isolated from the other students and taken into custody without incident.
Goodyear police spokeswoman Lisa Berry said the boy was arrested and will be booked into the Durango Juvenile facility.
According to district officials, "the normal school day has proceeded without interruption."
