LAVEEN, AZ — Screeching tires, fireworks and loud music are ruining the peace and quiet in one Valley community.
A neighbor who lives near 67th Avenue and Southern says a growing group of people are taking to the intersection, doing donuts with their cars, lighting fireworks and blasting music at all hours of the night.
"It's extremely frustrating," said Carol Parsons.
Parsons shared a video with ABC15 from Saturday night, which shows a large crowd gathered around, and in, the intersection.
"[They're] shooting off fireworks, shooting off guns and doing donuts in the center of the intersection," she said. "Blocking the intersection. What if there was an emergency?"
Parsons says the crowds usually gather overnight Sunday. She estimated Saturday's crowd at around 150 people. "It's like this huge party in the middle of the intersection," she said.
Parsons says no one has stepped in to stop the routine gathering. "I'm astonished there's no authorities," she said. "It's the middle of an intersection. A lighted intersection and there's nobody around. It's just them. Just cars. Cars everywhere."
ABC15 has reached out to Phoenix police and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
"Somebody's going to get hurt," Parsons said. "Or they're going to end up flipping a car or somebody is going to get killed. It's not going to end well."
