BUCKEYE, AZ — A detention officer with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office was killed in a crash Tuesday evening.
Authorities announced that detention officer Justin Folsome died in a crash involving a semi-truck on State Route 85 near Buckeye.

Folsome's vehicle was rear-ended by the driver of the truck, according to MCSO officials.
"This loss is tragic and heartbreaking," said Sheriff Paul Penzone. "I ask that Officer Folsome's family receive all the love and support possible during this time of sadness and loss."
Folsome was with MCSO since June 2012 and his most recent assignment was the Intake, Transfer and Release facility.
It's unclear if Folsome was on or off-duty at the time of the crash. The Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash and hasn't released further details.
