An exclusive new poll shows Republican Debbie Lesko holding a sizable lead over her Democratic opponent Hiral Tipirneni in the race for Arizona's 8th Congressional District.
A special election to fill Trent Franks' seat in the West Valley district is set for April 24, with Lesko facing off against Tipirneni.
The survey from ABC15 and OH Predictive Insights included 500 people who either had already cast an early ballot or say they're definitely voting in the upcoming election. According to poll results released Thursday, Lesko is up by 10 points, with 53 percent to Tipirneni's 43 percent.
The women are vying to replace Franks, who resigned from the U.S. House during a surrogacy scandal in December. The district includes Glendale, Peoria, Sun City, Surprise, and other west Valley suburbs.
The automated survey was conducted Tuesday by OH Predictive Insights, a GOP polling firm, based on responses from 500 likely special election voters. The margin of error was +/- 4.38 percent.
