PEORIA, AZ — A child has died after being struck by a boat at Lake Pleasant Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. at the lake in Peoria when a group comprised of two families was wakeboarding.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office officials say a 6-year-old girl was struck when the boat operator went to move forward.
The girl was reportedly run over and received a severe injury to her leg.
She was taken to a hospital by Peoria Fire Department where she died, MCSO announced.
MCSO told ABC15 the operator of the boat was the girl's mother.
Officials say the two families, including six adults and six children, were experienced boaters and took all of the proper safety precautions.
Authorities do not believe impairment is a factor in the incident, but an investigation remains ongoing.
