A 16-month-old girl was found unresponsive in a backyard pool on Friday morning in Peoria.
Crews were called to the home near 83rd Avenue and Thunderbird Road around 7 a.m.
Peoria Police say a family member found the child in the water and immediately began life-saving efforts until officials arrived. Fire officials say the girl was taken to the hospital unresponsive and not breathing.
She died around 8 a.m, according to police.
Air15 video from the scene showed a fenced-in pool, however, there is no word on how the child got into the pool area.
Police are still investigating the drowning and say no arrests have been made yet.
