Former Peoria councilman Carlo “Rocky” Leone passes away at 84

PEORIA, AZ — Former Peoria councilman Carlo “Rocky” Leone passed away at the age of 84, just three months after he stepped down from his seat on city council. Leone served on the city council for 20 years.

"I am saddened to hear of Carlo's passing," said Mayor Cathy Carlat. "He spent many years representing the citizens of Peoria's Pine District and I am grateful for his dedicated service. It is a blessing that he was able to spend his final months surrounded by those he loved most. My prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."

According to a release from the city, Leone was best known for his outspoken nature and unwavering dedication to his district and its residents. The city says Leone who served in the Pine District, was very active in the community and would frequently visit constituents at their homes and neighborhood events.

Leone is survived by his five children, 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
