Officials have arrested a man connected to a carjacking in Peoria.

Peoria police said 22-year-old Zachary Arias was arrested on Thursday morning in Sun City in connection to a carjacking that occurred on October 25.

According to police, Arias approached a woman sitting her vehicle in a parking lot near 91st Avenue and Peoria and asked her for a ride.

The woman declined and Arias asked if she would change her mind if he had a gun. At that point, Arias ordered the suspect out of the vehicle and told her he would shoot her.

Police said the suspect took the vehicle and left the area. The vehicle was later found by the Arizona Department of Public Safety near 60th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

Peoria detectives were able to identify the suspect and arrest Arias.

Arias was booked on aggravated assault, armed robbery, burglary and theft of mean of transportation charges.
