LAKE PLEASANT — A 55-year-old man died while diving at Lake Pleasant Saturday night, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department (MCSO).
MCSO lake patrol deputies responded to a call of a possible drowning at the lake just after 8 p.m.
Officials say the man, identified as 55-year-old Randall Mancebo, was diving with a group of five others near Lake Pleasant Harbor when he became distressed underwater.
MCSO says Mancebo surfaced from a depth of 60 feet with another diver and became unresponsive shortly thereafter.
A group of divers pulled Mancebo to the shore and began to perform CPR.
First responders arrived within minutes and began attempting advanced life life-saving measures; however, the were unsuccessful. Mancebo was pronounced dead on the scene.
MCSO Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez said lake patrol detectives have taken over the investigation. He also said there are no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.
