PEORIA, AZ — The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says a double shooting near Peoria over the weekend is a murder-suicide.

Deputies were called to the scene near Happy Valley Road and Vistancia Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

When deputies arrived, they found a deceased woman and a man who was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The man later died from his injuries, officials said on Monday.

Investigators said the man and woman, identified Tuesday as 39-year-olds Carin and James Donnelly, were married. MCSO says James Donnelly shot and killed his wife before shooting himself.
