The City of Peoria has selected Art Miller as their new police chief.
Miller spent most of his career with the Los Angeles Police Department, from 1978 to 2012. For 20 years he held upper-level management roles within the department.
For the past five years, Miller served as the Chief of Police in South Pasadena.
“Chief Miller not only brings a vast breadth of experience, but his impressive and diverse background, education and achievements make him a uniquely qualified candidate for this position,” said City Manager Jeff Tyne.
Pending exams and council approval, Miller is expected to begin his first day on the job on September 5.
