PEORIA, AZ — A 26-year-old man has been arrested after admitting to police that he assaulted and killed his 59-year-old boyfriend weeks ago in Peoria, according to police.

In a release, police said Christopher Jones was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 20 and booked into Maricopa County's Fourth Avenue Jail on murder charges.

The day before, police officers received a 911 call from a woman who found her brother's deceased body on the second floor of his home near Montgomery Road and 73rd Avenue. Police said the victim, who was not identified, had head trauma and an electrical cord wrapped around his neck.

The woman told police she went to check on her brother after not hearing from him for several weeks.

Police said there was "a history of domestic violence calls" at the home involving the two men. They said Jones admitted to the killing in an interview with authorities. Police said they believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no danger to the public.
