PEORIA, AZ — The body of a man who was reported missing at Lake Pleasant Sunday has been found.

Officials say a man, identified as 25-year-old Byron Garcia-Perez, was seen swimming in the southwest area of the lake, about 100 feet from the shoreline when he began to struggle and go underwater.

Family members attempted to locate him but he did not resurface, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

MCSO crews arrived at the lake and began searching for him. Just before midnight, his body was found by a Remote Operating Vehicle in about nine feet of water.

The drowning is under investigation, but MCSO says no foul play is suspected.
