Peoria Police Department is hoping local businesses and residents will register their security cameras to help police fight crime even more efficiently.
The Safe-Cam Peoria Police Department initiative will provide police contact information for each camera owner and a better opportunity to contact places where crimes occur.
If you decide to register your camera, police will not take ownership or have direct access to the camera, but will instead be able to more easily make contact with those who may have film of a nearby crime.
Those who register will also be given a window sticker that will alert and deter criminals who may otherwise not know they're being recorded.
