PEORIA, AZ — Two Arizona lawmakers are calling for Peoria to be the home of the United Space Force Command.

In a letter to Secretary of the Air Force Barbara Barrett, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08), and Congressman Paul Gosar (AZ-04) advocated for Peoria to be selected as the headquarters for the Space Force.

Congresswoman Lesko wrote, “Based on the criteria released by the Department of the Air Force earlier this year, Peoria meets all requirements for command headquarters. My district is already home to Luke Air Force Base and our community is proud of the support we provide to our outstanding air men and women. We would love to welcome the Space Force to our district.”

In May, the Department of Air Force announced that the Space Force Command headquarters location would require an AARP index score of 50 or higher, be located 25 miles from a military installation, and in the top 150 metro areas.
