PEORIA, AZ — A man is facing homicide charges after police say he stabbed his step-grandfather.
Peoria police were called to a home near 91st and Peoria avenues around 3:00 a.m. Friday.
When they arrived they found an 89-year-old Peoria man with a stab wound. Paramedics attempted life saving measures but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was not at the scene when police arrived, but authorities say he returned around 6:00 a.m. He is identified as 41-year-old Shaun Gentilo, the step-grandson of the victim.
He was taken into custody and is being booked into the 4th Avenue Jail on first degree murder and domestic violence charges.
It remains unclear why Gentilo allegedly stabbed his step-grandfather.
