PEORIA, AZ — Authorities have formally arrested the suspect in an officer-involved shooting last week.
Tuesday Peoria police said 23-year-old Samuel Denk was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail for aggravated assault after being released from the hospital.
Denk was pulled over by a sergeant near 83rd Avenue and Cholla on March 27 for a traffic violation. Police say as the sergeant approached Denk reached for a gun in his lap.
The Peoria officer fired once, hitting Denk in the face. The sergeant was not harmed in the incident.
