Thousands of voters in Maricopa County may not have their voter ID cards in Tuesday's special election for Congressional District 8.
More than 158,696 voter ID cards have been sent out in the mail, according to Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes.
Of those voters, 8,300 live in CD-8.
Republican State Senator Debbie Lesko and Democrat Dr. Hiral Tipirneni are fighting for former Congressman Trent Franks' seat.
The CD-8 covers parts of Surprise, Peoria, and north of Phoenix.
Fontes does not think the delay in voter ID cards will impact the results of the CD-8 election because there are safeguards in place.
Fontes says every eligible voter received in the mail, a mail-in ballot or a sample ballot that includes information on where to can vote.
Fontes says the delay is because of a few reasons.
"We process these in big batches for economic reasons," Fontes said. "We also shifted our printer so there was a little bit of a delay there."
If you did not receive your voter ID card you can still vote.
