The Surprise Police Department have identified the officer involved in a deadly shooting that took place over the weekend.
Police say the officer involved in the shooting, which happened on Saturday around 1 a.m., is Officer Joseph Gruver.
Gruver has been working for the Surprise Police Department for one year.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard practice for incidents of this nature.
Police say he shot and killed 20-year-old Derek Adame who was combative with him.
