A Surprise man was arrested after police discovered he tried to kill his own mother by using work-out equipment.
Kevin White, 23, was arrested after he attacked his mom, Barbara White, at her Surprise home. Police say that on Sunday, June 19, the 50-year-old woman called police after her son assaulted her with a 15 pound dumbbell weight.
The woman was going into her home when her son hit her multiple times in the head with the dumbbell. She was also strangled near the garage of the home.
The woman was taken to a local hospital where her head injuries were treated.
Police say the woman's son had fled from the home but was later found at a nearby residence. The man was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail; he faces several felony offenses included one count of attempted 1st degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of kidnapping and one count of burglary.
