SURPRISE, AZ — Surprise police are conducting a death investigation after two people were shot and killed late Friday night.
According to Surprise police, they received a call for a welfare check around 11:45 p.m. Friday at AMC movie theater located near Litchfield and Waddell roads.
A witness told police he reportedly saw a man force a woman into a vehicle outside of the movie theater.
When officers arrived on scene, they saw a vehicle leaving the area heading into a neighborhood north of the AMC.
Surprise police say when they found the vehicle in the adjacent neighborhood, they found a man and a woman in the car with gunshot wounds.
Though life saving measures were performed, the man and woman died on the scene, according to police.
Detectives identified the deceased as 21-year-old Jafar Tigue from El Mirage and 18-year-old Faith Villanueva from Surprise. According to Surprise police, Tigue and Villanueva had been in a relationship in the past.
