A Surprise community is full of scorpions, and a group of neighbors are on the nightly hunt.
Gwynn Hagen is the leader of the pack. She decided to start hunting for scorpions on a nightly basis about three years ago.
"I realized how many people were having such a large problem with the scorpions," she said. "We thought something had to be done, so why not us."
Every night, she, her husband and several neighbors set out on foot. They bring blacklights and scorpion-killing spray.
They kill anywhere between 30 and 300 a night, reducing the population in the neighborhood by over 50 percent.
"We have caught over 20,000 in the past three years," Hagen said.
