Surprise neighborhood concerned over men creeping around homes

People living in a Surprise neighborhood near Paradise and Cotton lanes believe two men, appearing at first to look like landscapers, are sneaking through their yards and casing homes.

“They were wearing big floppy hats, like sun hats,” Thomas Yuhas II told ABC15.

Yuhas was feeding his kids on Monday when he spotted the men in his backyard. He said one of the men was looking through a window over his kitchen sink and, when Yuhas and the man made eye contact, the pair ran off and sped away.

“I immediately went to my front door I tried to see what kind of vehicle they were in,” he said.

On social media, several neighbors said the men were spotted at several other homes in the area, and surveillance cameras captured them driving a red sedan.

Less than a day after the incident, Yuhas is now installing several cameras on his property so, if they return, he can turn over high definition images to police. He believes the men were in their late teens or early twenties.

“I have my kids here, you know, and I’m leaving during the day most of the time — and it’s just my wife here — and I want to make sure they’re protected,” he said.

According to a Surprise police spokesman, Yuhas is the only person so far to file a report. Anyone with information on the men is being urged to come forward.
