Police officer involved in 3-car accident in Surprise, multiple injuries

Surprise police are investigating a crash involving one of their own.

Authorities responded to the area of Dysart Road and Grand Avenue around 6:45 Sunday night after receiving reports about a three-car accident, including a police officer.

Officials are at the scene evaluating people involved for injuries. At least three people are hospitalized for further treatment, however, the extent of their current conditions are unknown.

According to a police spokeswoman, the police officer was taken to a local trauma center.

Witnesses at the scene told ABC15 that a police vehicle was driving with its sirens on and another car crashed into it. 

No additional information was released.
