Valley man catches drunk driver on dash cam

SURPRISE, AZ — A Valley driver played a big role in getting a drunk driver off the streets.

Dominik Blesin was driving north on Loop 303 early Sunday morning when he says a black pickup truck nearly ran into him. After watching the driver swerve and almost hit other drivers, he says he decided to call for help.

“Something is really wrong, he’s going to kill somebody," said Blesin.

Video from Blesin's dash cam captures the driver struggling to stay in one lane.

You can hear his frantic pleas to a 911 dispatcher for help, but Blesin says the response surprised him.

"I don't have any troopers in the area, let me see if Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has some," said the Department of Public Safety dispatcher.

Both MCSO and Surprise police were called, and both agencies said they too had no one in the area of the driver.

Not long after that call though, a Surprise officer spotted the truck described in the call and arrested Rosalinda Nevarez for DUI. Police say she admitted to drinking earlier that day.

"He did a phenomenal service to our community by making that call," said Surprise Police Sergeant Tim Klarkowski. "We may or may not have found this person otherwise.”

DPS tells ABC15, it's not unusual that they ask for help from other surrounding agencies who might be able to get there faster.
