Surprise police say a woman has been hospitalized after she crashed into a home Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. in a neighborhood near 115th Avenue and Bell Road.

A woman reportedly told police she believed she passed out while driving, which caused her to jump a curb and crash into the garage of a home and a parked car.

Gary Santon, who lives nearby, quickly ran outside after hearing the crash.

"It was a really loud noise. I came out here the lady was in the car. We got a hammer, a neighbor and I and we broke the side window of the car. We were talking to her, she couldn't get the door open and when the fire department showed up they got the door open," Santon said. "She was scared. That's all, just very scared but she was talking to us so we knew she was okay."

She was taken to the hospital as a precaution with minor injuries, police said.

Police say impairment is not suspected in the crash at this time.

"It sounded like a bomb going off. Stuff went flying everywhere when she hit the garage door and came out the other side. I mean there was stuff flying all over the place," said Tommy Shontz, another neighbor who lives nearby.
