If you've ever driven in Surprise, you know how congested the Bell Road and Grand Avenue intersection can get.
The Arizona Department of Transportation has chosen a contractor to begin a nearly $42 million project at the intersection to alleviate traffic.
The project includes the construction of a Bell Road bridge that will allow a continuous flow on Grand Avenue.
Grand Avenue work is set to begin at the end of January through the March.
Bell Road will be closed at Grand Avenue for up to eight months starting in April for the construction of the bridge.
ADOT officials say Grand Avenue will remain open throughout the course of the project.
"This project is so very important to the city of Surprise, as it will provide much-needed traffic relief at the county's third-busiest intersection and enhance the aesthetics at a signature gateway into our beautiful city," City Manager Bob Wingenroth said in a media release.
The Bell Road bridge will reportedly cross over both Grand Avenue and the nearby BNSF railroad tracks that run alongside the road.
