A woman remains in extremely critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Wednesday evening.
The unidentified victim was crossing North 16th Street and East Thomas Road around 10 p.m. when police say she was hit by 26-year-old Daniel Pineda.
According to police, Pineda hit the 45-year-old woman with a 2012 Chrysler 300 and fled the scene without stopping.
Police later located Pineda and took him into custody. Officials say Pineda was under the influence at the time of the accident leading to his arrest. They would like to charge him with one count driving under the influence and one count of hit and run.
The fire department transported her to the hospital overnight where she remains in extremely critical condition.
