PHOENIX – A research study shows that Arizonans have a special place in their heart for those creatures under their beds! Monsters, Inc. is the top picked Pixar movie for our Grand Canyon State in 2019.
The study was conducted by an analyst team at Cable TV. By looking at Google search history, they matched each state with their sought after Pixar companions.
Monsters, Inc. was released in 2001 and follows a comedic duo of monsters known as Mike and Sully as they try to return a human child back home.
Though Monsters, Inc. was a big hit in Arizona as well as neighboring state New Mexico, it was not the most popular Pixar film in the nation.
Here is a quick list of the highest-searched Pixar stories:
1. Up – The loving story of Carl and Wilderness Explorer Russel won the hearts of 17 states!
- Alabama, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
2. Brave – A close second for this fiery redhead as the tale of Princess Merida struck the interest of eight states.
- Colorado, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Washington.
3. Inside Out – Five states were feeling extra emotional this year as their top searched movie follows a story of Joy and Sadness.
- Indiana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oregon, and Utah.
4. Toy Story – These five states all have a love for toys but differ on which movie in the franchise is their favorite. Next to the state is their top Toy Story release.
- Florida (1), Idaho (2), Connecticut (3), Delaware (3), and Nevada (3).
5. Finding Dory – A win for the sequel! I guess these states could not wait to hear the backstory of this forgetful fish.
- Iowa, Kansas, Montana, and Rhode Island
Other movies included in the study only received one state’s love while some did not even make the cut. Check out CableTV.com to see all the results.
